Stacy Gilson is a Professor of Practice for the nursing program at Wittenberg where she spends most of her time working with sophomores who are new to nursing education as well as seniors preparing to graduate, working in the classroom, lab and clinical environments. Stacy grew up desiring to be a teacher and has had a lifelong interest in guiding and serving others through educator roles. She is passionate about nursing education and preparing the next generation of care providers through guidance, support, and mentorship.
Stacy continues to practice as a nurse at Dayton Children鈥檚, where she works in occupational health and her nursing background includes nursing education, nursing management, and bedside nursing in the emergency department, medical-surgical and post anesthesia settings. She received her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wright State University. Stacy is a Certified Nurse Educator through the National League for Nursing and holds certifications in healthcare simulation education, and emergency nursing as well as being a certified nurse executive. Stacy is a recognized author and subject matter expert in nursing and in nursing education and has served as an expert simulation consultant for multiple nursing programs throughout Ohio. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the National League for Nursing, the Emergency Nurses Association, and the International Consortium for Outcomes of Nursing Education (ICONEd).
Stacy is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing Leadership through the University of Southern Mississippi, where her research focus is nursing leadership styles and their impact on patient safety outcomes. She is a proud mother of two and a dog-mom who enjoys spending time with friends and family. Stacy is an avid reader who is active in her church and loves being outside.
